For the first time, the Villars concept has elevated Swiss milk chocolate to a similar level as great wines, cheeses and to the single origin dark chocolates of the world.
Chocolate Stars USA is proud to introduce Villars Swiss Milk Chocolate Terroir Collection to the United States. The collection of bars promises a journey to the heart of the Swiss Alps to share the Swiss experience through each bar.
The Swiss Legislation stipulates high requirements regarding accurate indication of origin to produce the highest quality of Swiss chocolates. Located in an area renowned for its exceptional dairy farms, Villars Maître Chocolatier enjoys a quality of milk like no other. Swiss milk – authentic, natural and pure – is selected and collected with as much care as the cocoa beans, and is chosen as much for its nutritive value as for its creamy taste. The area extends from Luzern to Interlaken/Bern via Fribourg. Small family farms work mainly three breeds of dairy cow, with 20 to 25 cows on average, practice traditional breeding methods such as grass fed and daily contact with the animals and preservation of the environment on the plains and mountains. This is how the richness of Switzerland’s pastures is found in the full, round and balanced marriage of milk and chocolate.
To pay tribute to Switzerland and to the reputation of its milk, after two years of research, Villars is launching a new range of three milk chocolate bars honoring the Swiss Alpine regions and Chocolate Stars USA is proud to introduce it to the United States.
Each region has its own typical features:
• milk from LUCERNE has a characteristic freshness
• milk from BERNE has a milky, melt-in-the-mouth quality
• milk from FRIBOURG tastes creamy and caramelized
Each product made by Villars are following the NEW Swissness Legislation:
• 100% Manufacturing at Fribourg (Switzerland), from bean-to-bar
• 100% Swiss Milk: Partnership with Swiss milk producers => The annual milk consumption of Villars represents the annual production of 25 dairy farms
• 100% Swiss Sugar: Partnership with Swiss producers => the annual sugar consumption of Villars represents the annual production of 22 Swiss sugar beet producers.
Partnership agreements were concluded with dairies in each of the 3 cantons (Luzern, Fribourg and Bern) to select, organize the rounds and source the milk to ensure the typical flavors of each region’s milk were present in the chocolate. The wrappers of these delicious chocolate bars feature images of “poya paintings”, or mountain pastures on the reverse, much like the simple paintings that adorn the stables in the area. Finally, visual reference is also made on the front to the different breeds of cow as symbols of each region.
